Fall Feasts in Italy

Few countries take their autumn harvests as seriously as Italy. Visit any hilltop town or small city on a weekend in October and you’re likely to find a sagra, a gastronomic spectacle venerating pumpkins or chestnuts or just about any vegetable, nut or meat that’s grown and produced regionally in fresh abundance. Sagre sometimes last all weekend and often culminate on Sunday with a celebratory feast.
